The EnerGhentIC consortiums puts its researchers at the core of all internal operations and wants to encourage their sense of community and promote collaboration. Next to several workshops, lectures and other events we focus our teambuilding efforts on a yearly Community Day for all EnerGhentIC members.
This year the Community Day 2022 on 07/07 was a great success with over 80 participants and had as a general theme "Entrepreneurship meets energy research". The morning sessions offered our researchers with entrepreneurial ambitions some insights into the options, with a.o. a look at the UGent Durf Ondernemen (DO!) platform, next to some inspiring personal stories by a couple of young energy entrepreneurs. In the afternoon our researchers got a taste of several technology innovations, trying out VR experiences, flying drones and driving Segways.
The Community Days are the perfect opportunity to show our researchers how their work is embedded in a larger context and how this creates a lot of potential for collaboration and innovation. It also offers our members the chance to get to know each other and the work of their colleagues, who are often working on a very different topic within the energy transition, strengthening the cohesion within the consortium.
